Irish Historic Towns Atlas: John Rocque's Dublin: A Guide to the Georgian City

This book is an ancillary to the Dublin series from Royal Irish Academy's Irish Historic Towns Atlas project. Forty extracts from John Rocque's detailed map of Dublin, dating to 1756, are reproduced with accompanying commentaries and illustrations. Authors Colm Lennon and John Montague consider the map at the level of individual streets and buildings, revealing particular elements of Rocque's artistic cartography and aspects of Dublin's history. The map extracts and commentaries are accompanied by preceding essays, offering a new view of the Georgian city.
