The book tells the story of an Irishman who grew up in Glasgow and who was one of Scotland’s greatest athletes in the early 1900’s winning 6 consecutive Mile races in the Scottish Championship 1902-1907and won a silver medal in the 1500 meters for Scotland and Great Britain in the 2nd International Olympic Games in Athens in 1906. He was masseur with Celtic FC and became the first Irishman in a training role with Manchester United in 1914. After his return to Ireland in 1915 he became immersed in GAA and went on to be trainer of the great Cavan team who won there All Ireland in the Polo grounds New York in 1947.
