Crowfield House, Nora Collins’ ancestral home: a neglected wreck and perpetual shrine to her missing son, Eric.
‘Of course it’s not haunted, it’s just a strange old house,’ Nora tells her children and they believe her. Well, Elspeth does but Eric has his doubts and then on a stormy summer night they both go into the woods of Crowfield but only Elspeth returns, barely alive.
The years have passed and Nora still remains in Crowfield, unable to leave. Elspeth struggles with her memories, her fears of what really happened that fateful night.
Then, after Nora’s sudden death, Elspeth returns to Crowfield – and, as strange events occur, mirroring that tragic summer’s events, she becomes increasingly troubled.
