Touching on big themes such as memory, hope, despair, joy and life and death, Carey also uses his paintings to help frame his poems and hint at an interpretation; creating a collision and collusion of sound and colour that conspired to evoke mystery.
Inspired by the Burren landscape of County Clare, the collection is full of the chattering between dark and light, earth and sky, of which the birds and trees are kind ambassadors.
