This 1922 report of the Irish White Cross provides a broad snapshot of that work, including information on the impact of the violence up to the 31 August 1922. The Irish White Cross was set up in 1920 to disperse funds raised by the American Committee for Relief in Ireland (also founded in 1920). The funds were to be used to financially support those who had been injured or suffered hardships during the War of Independence in Ireland. The Irish White Cross continued its work until 1928 when it was wound up, although some of its activities were continued by subsidiary groups such as the Children’s Relief Association which supported child victims through their schooling and into their early working lives until it too was wound up in 1947.
