Taylor's new collection creates and bravely explores the boundaries between predator and prey, between warning and transformation. Her poems carve images from a chaotic world, whether in nature closely observed-a snail with feelers out "propelled by hunch or hunger"-or in memories of a devoutly superstitious great-grandmother who "buried sickness on a plate twenty-two steps from the back door" and believed "tragedies elbowed past regardless of daily prayers.
