Pat Reynolds was the first Meathman to win an Allstar award, when he was included in the half-back line in the inaugural football team in 1971. A fierce tackling defender he was heralded for his bravery, and it seemed his kind might never be seen again in the green and gold. Pat had also claimed four Leinster titles, and an All-Ireland title with Meath in 1967.
